Trainee Gunner Course
After completing phase 1 of training , a 10-week Basic Recruit Training Course at RAF Halton , individuals will commence the Trainee Gunner ( TG ) Course at RAF Honington . This course is designed to take newly qualified individual and train them to become an RAF Regiment Gunner . The course is physically demanding and is designed to prepare individuals for the array of tasks and environments in which they are likely to operate in the future . The course is made up of 2 Modules as follows :
Module 1 : Module 1 includes : daily physical training , rifle training , General Service Knowledge ( RAF ), First Aid , Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear training , foot drill , adventure training , a 5-day Basic Field Craft exercise , Individual Force Protection training , grenade training and live firing .
Module 2 : Module 2 includes : Physical Training , weapon training , Dismounted Close Combat ( DCC ) ( Section level ), battlefield surveillance , navigation and map training , field craft exercises including a 5-day battle trench exercise , General Service Pistol training , bayonet training , Close Quarter Battle training and fitness assessments . At the end of this Module , TGs complete Exercise OMEGA , a final exercise testing them on everything they have learnt during the course so far . Training culminates in a Live Fire Tactical Training package at flight level .
Final Graduation : You will conduct a formal graduation parade and be awarded your RAF Regiment shoulder flashes in front of your family and friends .
