WTG FARMING GRANT

Compassion – translates into empathy , care , kindness , concern …. We at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA are grateful for the compassion shown to us by our Funder Weltteirschutzgesellschaft ( WTG ) based in Berlin , Germany , for funding the Compassion in Farming project . This was a project which was started in 2017 and is now nearing its end . Passion , People and Partnerships made it all happen for all the farmers who are part of this project .
One of the main objectives of this project was to educate emerging farmers in good animal care and welfare and focused on their responsibilities in caring for their animals . Educational tools were developed and workshopped with the farmers and the knowledge transfers and skills were put to the test by employing practical sessions and assessments .

One of the highlights for October was when the Cape of Good Hope SPCA hosted the Agri-Expo 2020 and most of the farmers on the Compassion in Farming project were invited to participate in this event . The keynote speaker for this event was Minister of Agriculture in the Western Cape , Dr Ivan Meyer .
