SUPPORTERS MADE THEIR MARK BY GETTING ONE !

THE LOVE LOCKDOWN

Our # Lovelockdown challenge called on supporters to discover their inner “ Annie Leibowitz ” along with Expresso Presenter and animal lover Ewan Strydom and was in aid of highlighting the joy of sharing lockdown with a companion animal . We asked participants to show us just how lockdown had strengthened their bond with their pets with a photo that demonstrated that bond , whether their pet had become their best cuddle buddy , favourite co-worker , meditation inspiration , yoga partner , scary movie binge-watching sidekick , DIY right hand or artistic muse . Bayer and Ultra Dog sponsored this challenge with a household food voucher and a cash prize of R650.00 . Our winner of this competition with 8600 votes , Liela Lick-a-lot Stodart-Lochner graces the front cover of this edition of Footprints . Mom Marelise said “ Layla has been the best lockdown partner and it has been a blessing having so much time with her as she also celebrated her 16th birthday during the lockdown . She has assisted me on the days that working from home was too stressful and brought joy to our team video meetings ”.

TATS4TAILS –

SUPPORTERS MADE THEIR MARK BY GETTING ONE !

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA ’ s annual tattoo-a-thon , Tats4Tails , held in partnership with Primal Culture Tattoo Studio was generously sponsored by Identipet this year . The 7-day event which took place from the 30th of August to the 6th of September 2020 , saw supporters getting beautiful tattoos that they will never regret . Clinton Naidoo , owner of Primal Culture Tattoo Studio , who has a heart as big as his talent offered 7cm x7cm tattoos for only R700.00 – It was a triple 777 jackpot deal that saw everyone , including our animals winning ! No matter what tattoo participants chose or for whatever reason they chose it , their tattoo symbolised the saving of two animal lives .
It costs the SPCA R350 on average to respond to each call we receive for an animal in crisis . Whether they are chained to the spot , exposed to the elements , being cruelly beaten , forced to fight , starving or sick , injured and in pain , the Cape of Good Hope
SPCA is committed to responding to every call we receive , 7 days a week , 24 hours a day . At R700 per tattoo , each tattoo covered the cost of 2 animal rescues and by the end of the 7-day tattoo-a-thon , 91 tattoos translated directly into 182 lives saved .
Participants included well know faces like Cedwyn Joel and Jill Levenberg of Suidooste fame , Craig Lucas ( singer-songwriter and winner of The Voice South Africa in 2017 ), Leigh-Anne Jansen , Tanya Nefdt , Saya Pierce Jones and Daily Voice reporter Venecia America Valentine .
With the pandemic requiring so many protocols to be in place for businesses to operate safely , specifically close contact industries , we were overwhelmed by the support we received from everyone . Thank you so much for helping us to keep our Inspectors mobile and able to reach the many animals that need us now more than ever !
