Lizzie Carr

Lizzie was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago, which inspired her to travel the world, causing her to fall in love with nature. She was then diagnosed with stage 2 cancer and quit her job, and began campaigning for issues she was passionate about and spending more time with her family. She has been in remission for 2 years. In 2017 she became the 1st woman to cross the English Channel solo, on a paddleboard. She logged every piece of plastic she encountered, and gathered water samples every 4 miles to test for microplastics. She started Plastic Patrol after she was shocked with the amount of plastic waste in UK waterways and on beaches. Plastic Patrol maps plastic pollution and organises clean ups, with the aim to raise awareness about the impacts and severity of plastic pollution.
