there’s a lot to draw your attention.
There is beautiful historic architecture, music
that spills onto the sidewalks through open
doors, while laughter and busy chatter can be
heard on almost every corner. Among the
oldest and most intriguing places to visit is
The Factory, right in the heart of downtown.
The Factory earns its namesake due to the
fact that it was, originally, exactly that. The
Factory was home to the first tobacco factory
in the area in 1873. It became a knitting mill
and hosiery in 1908, and lastly a furniture
factory from 1970 until its closing in 2003.

The factory is still often referred to as the
“Hooker Furniture building”, and was the
primary hiring facility in Kernersville since its
opening. The Factory is the first of its kind in
Kernersville, hosting a range of residential,
commercial, and retail space. it is shaped
around a beautiful courtyard, and its original
history and foundation can still be seen and
visited today. The Factory currently hosts five
retail shops, and an Italian restaurant, among
having other attractions and businesses there
as well. You can't visit Kernersville without
stopping to see it.
