“I’m expecting big things out of
those guys.”
The War Eagle head also mentioned
returning defensive linemen
Trent Nelson and Michael
Crumbley as a couple of names
to look out for this season. The
offensive front, outside of Unash,
is where the team needs to learn
quickly because those quarterbacks
will need time to get the
ball into the playmakers’ hands.
“We’ve got to have some offensive
linemen grow up,” said Pope.
“We’ve got some young guys who
are a little inexperienced, but
they’re athletic. They’ve been
working their tails off in the
weight room, but that’s the area
we’ve got to find two or three guys
to really step up. If that happens,
I’m expecting some really exciting
things with the skill guys we have
on offense.”
Putnam kicks off the 2020
campaign Sept. 11 against fellow
lake area school Morgan County.
The region slate begins Oct.
2 at home against Westside of
Augusta.
“It’s going
to be a
different
look for
us, but
we’re
excited
about it.”
- Coach Pope
