Grantham Town
FOOTBALL CLUB
First established in 1874, Grantham Town FC’s first team
currently competes in the Evo-Stik Premier Division. The
club has put together a history of which they have every right
to be proud since first being established.
So far this season their first team has
put together a steady league campaign,
compiling a record of nine wins, five
draws and thirteen defeats from their
twenty-seven matches. This sees them
sitting in a mid-table position with
thirty-two points on the board.
A good run of recent results has seen
them climb away from the relegation
places and they will be keen to continue
their positive form. As long as they
can keep their current group of players
together they should be in with a fine
chance of doing just that.
Grantham Town is not a club to
focus solely upon their senior section
and this is reflected by the fact that they
also run a number of youth sides. These
teams look to provide young players
from the local area with an opportunity
to play the game in a safe and enjoyable
environment whilst helping them to
reach their full potential.
It is important for any club looking
to be successful over a sustained period
of time to be able to produce their own
talent and this is an area they appear to
have covered. It will certainly be exciting
to see how their youngsters can progress
over the coming years.
The club has also recently been able
to announce their intention to field a
Women’s side for the 2019/20 season.
The side will compete at Step 7 in the
football pyramid with matches taking
place on the main pitch at the Meres.

Speaking to the club’s official website,
www.granthamtownfc.com, Chairman
Nigel Wedgwood said, “We recognise
that as a club we need to be inclusive for
all and by having no women’s side we
were failing this. Working alongside the
Academy we’ve identified what we can
offer.”
There is clearly much to admire
about the fine set up that Grantham
Town FC currently has in place and this
is thanks to all of the hard work that
goes into the club. If they continue in the
same manner then they should be able to
look forwards to a bright and successful
future for many years to come. Everyone
at Football Focus Magazine would like to
take this opportunity to wish them the
best of luck.
