“An experienced spine helps; keeper
Chris Davidson who is arguably the best
in the league along with Stewart Bath
who has experience and the belief in the
way we are trying to play. That playing
philosophy has us averaging over four
goals per game and that attacking threat
and belief breeds confidence. Mikey
McGee has led the way in terms of goals,
but we have got goals throughout the
side.
“Having the unbelievable talent of
player Philip Otele or the guile of Ryan
Hebb or Daniel Drazdauskas or the pace
of Junior Masandi and the work rate of
34 Issue 82
Nathan Bayes means we can score all
types of goals. As a collective we have
talent and belief and that is a great mix.”
Both Steve and Keith went on to talk of
their plans for the rest of the season, “We
want to continue in the same vein. We
have an opportunity to create history
with the Clubs highest ever league
position and for the hardworking, long
serving committee that would be a
superb way of saying thank you for their
efforts.”
“As a group the players are focused
on taking each game as it comes. It is a
methodology that has served us well to
date. As a Manager I want silverware
and why not. There are some very good
teams in the Wearside League and
more quality than many higher up the
pyramid give it credit for.
“Lifting a trophy would be our aim,
after all that is why we dedicate so much
of our time to the game – those special
moments that last long in the memory.
Our plan for the rest of the campaign
is to maintain our excellent start to the
season which has seen us in top spot in
the Wearside League for the first time in
fifteen years.
