FOOTBALL CLUB
The modern version of Barnoldswick Town was established in 1972
and joined the Craven and District League where they played until
joining the East Lancashire League at the beginning of the 1990s.
They then moved to the West Lancashire League, winning promotion
to Division One in their first season.
The following year they won Division One and were
promoted to the Premier Division before a sixth place finish
in the 2008/09 season saw them promoted to Division One
of the North West Counties League. They were promoted to
the Premier Division the following season after finishing as
runners-up.
At present, the club plays their home games at the
Silentnight Stadium on Greenberfield Lane in Lancashire and
their first team continues to compete in the Premier Division
24 Issue 82
of the North West Counties League. They are led by Chair
Stewart Airdrie who is supported by Secretary Alyson Norris
and the club is looking to progress under their guidance.
So far this season their first team has been in good form,
putting together a record of fourteen wins, five draws and
seven defeats from their twenty-six matches. This sees them
sitting near the top of the table with forty-seven points on the
board.
