ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB
Glossop North End AFC is a fine example of the important role
that a club can play in the local community and were awarded the
FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year in 2017. Club
Representative Dan Bates recently took the time to speak to Football
Focus Magazine to find out more about the good work they’ve been
doing lately.
Involvement
He told us, “I was first attracted
to the club when I moved to the area
having previously lived over near
Sheffield during my childhood. I
liked the idea of supporting my local
football team and Glossop North
End was the obvious choice.
I had been a casual fan for a
couple of years before taking on the
role of match day announcer for the
club, this has progressed and having

acquired a further understanding of
how the club works, I have recently
joined the board of directors here to
help out with the day to day running
of the club. We have a great bunch of
volunteers here and everyone works
very hard.” days! There’s been the odd blunder
here and there but generally I’m on
top of it! The most rewarding aspect
is seeing everyone’s hard work come
together on and off the field to help
us achieve the club’s targets and
goals on and off the pitch.”
The Role Atmosphere
