Percy Main Amateurs
FOOTBALL CLUB
Percy Main Amateurs FC is recognised as a
Community Amateur Sports Club and is committed
to playing an important role in their local area.
Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with Club
Representative Norman de Bruin to find out more
about the good work that they’ve been doing lately.
He told us, “I’ve been involved with the club since 2002
when I was enticed in by an old school friend (club treasurer)
called Gary Hull. Gary sadly died in a road accident in January
2003 and the Gary Hull Memorial Trophy match is played
out at the start of every season; the 2018 game will be its 16th
consecutive year. I became treasurer in 2003 and secretary in
2008, a role I’ve fulfilled ever since.”
“The most challenging part of my role is getting good
people to help out, committee members etc. and to survive
financially in today’s difficult times. Another challenge is
people’s work patterns, meaning that Saturday has now
become a part of the working week. The most rewarding thing
is the good feedback we receive from people who have played
for, visited, supported or sponsored the club.
“At the moment the mood around the club is one of
optimism. We have an enthusiastic and well-respected new
team manager who takes charge of his first full season at the
club and has also helped out greatly behind the scenes.
