FOOTBALL CLUB
Biggleswade Football Club was formed in May 2016 from a very successful
Biggleswade Town Under 18s side that competed in the Thurlow Nunn Youth
League. Their ethos is based on attractive, passing football and they aim to
involve the local community of Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, especially exciting
and inspiring local school children. Football Focus Magazine recently caught up
with their Chair Jeremy Reynolds to find out more about the good work the club
has been doing.
Involvement
He started by telling us about his
involvement, saying, “My son was
the Under 18s Player of the Season for
two years running and I duly followed
the team during this time (my son had
previously played for Manager Dave
Northfield when he was much younger
and thus I have been involved over
many years).
Knowing Dave Northfield, I was
thus very happy when asked to be
Chairman of the newly formed senior
club Biggleswade FC and one of my first
jobs was to write and lead the appeal at
Wembley that got us placed at Step 6
football.
I was hugely attracted by starting a
football club ‘from scratch’ and growing
an off-field structure of committee
personnel. I love football and I knew
that the style of football that would be
played by FC would be entertaining
and thrilling to watch. Working in
education, I felt that my organisational

pitch unplayable.”
The Role Atmosphere
“The most rewarding part of my role
are watching the wonderful passing and
entertaining football each match and
seeing the success flowing from this;
working with a personable young team
which is eager to learn and develop;
working as a team with FC helpers
and committee; meeting new clubs and
speaking with a wider variety of football
people; matchdays and all that happens!
Overall, releasing and harnessing
people’s energies and enthusiasm and
putting on excellent hospitality.
The most challenging aspects
are growing our true identity in a
groundshare situation (e.g. what we can
do at the ground and regarding our own
facilities); getting sponsors onboard;
ensuring FC is financially sustainable;
the worry that players might be tempted “The atmosphere at the club is
absolutely fantastic – the best it has
