Crawcrook Albion
FOOTBALL CLUB
Ryton and Crawcrook Albion’s history began at the start of the
1970-71 season when a team was formed at short notice to take on
the fixtures of Prudhoe and West Wylam Co-op in the Northern
Combination League. They played their first Northern Combination
League game against Parsons Athletic on Saturday 17th October 1970
with the game ending 3-3. Since then the club has gone on to put
together a history of which they have every right to be proud.
They saw plenty of success during
the 1980s when they won the Prudhoe
Hospital Cup twice, the Northern
Combination League Cup and the
Durham County Trophy. Later, they
became part of the Northern Football
Alliance and won the First Division Title
in 1997.
In 1998 they made the move to
their current home at Kingsley Park
in Crawcrook with the ground being
opened by HRH Prince Andrew. More
success followed as the team won
promotion to the second division of
the Northern League at the end of the
2004/05 season.
They then won promotion to the First
Division in 2008 before being relegated
