Bearwood Wanderers
a positive ambience around the dressing
room at Langborough Rec (home
ground). Following on from our cup
triumph last season we’ve managed to
keep a core nucleus of the side together
which has been great.
A number of our players have vast
experience on the Sunday league scene
and they’ve been brilliant at providing
leadership to the younger players coming
into the side. The club’s breadth of ages
has seen a great sense of maturity on and
off the pitch from the younger lads and
has provided a platform to continue the
game they love at a club who appreciates
all their efforts.”
What Next?
“Andy White has demanded it’s the
treble or nothing this year! Along with
Andy’s expectations, this season has
seen the return of Chris Marriott to the
fold after an absence since January, who
also seconds Andy’s ambitions for the
season. The club strive to compete at the
highest level against any competition
and relish challenges and showed this
during our cup campaign last season.
Further plans till the end of 2018 and
into 2019 will look to provide the coaches
with FA Level 1/2 Badges which will
improve the club with a vision of one day
taking Bearwood into Saturday League
Football. As the club expands it will
provide scope to engage with the local
community and provide the longevity of
Bearwood Wanderers Football Club for
future generations to enjoy.”
Challenges/Ambitions
“One of the key challenges we face,
as I’m sure other Sunday League clubs
have, is keeping together! Without
the help of local community sponsors
coupled with the rising costs involved
with running the club mean pre-season
budgetary planning and resourcing are
essential. Nick Brown, Club Treasurer,
handles the day to day accounts and
has ensured the club remain in a healthy
financial status.
Aside from staying together, the aim
is to build out from our current status;
one of the key goals is to incorporate
a reserve side and go up through the
divisions in Bracknell. The club will
certainly be looking to add to the trophy
cabinet for the 2018/19 season.”
Bearwood Club Captain Jamie Raine (Jam) has been given the armband this season
and his leadership and vocals have helped Wanderers to a solid start to the campaign.
Jam at the heart of the defence joined the club last season and brings with him a wealth
of football experience as well as picking up a number of trophies on his way.
Jam has said that he’s enjoying his spell at the club and has commented on how the
start to the season has been a progressive step forward as the club are looking to go all
the way to win silverware.
