The most challenging aspect, like at any football club, is
trying to make decisions that will ensure the club moves in the
right direction, what is right for fans and what is right for the
club. The most rewarding aspect has to be seeing the team on
the pitch winning.
That is closely followed by seeing young football fans
coming along to support their local team. They are the future
of the club and are the ones who seem to create an atmosphere;
having them involved shows the great togetherness and the
impact we have on the community via our various initiatives.
This season has started relatively well; we are the highest
scoring team in the league and as we speak we have the most
prolific goal scorer in Europe in Stephen Dobbie. We are a
very attacking team this season with forward thinking players
so our games have been very exciting and a great watch for
the supporters. Despite a couple of defeats and a spirited loss
against Premier League opposition in the League Cup, we
have made a decent, positive start to the season.
With the club celebrating its centenary this season, the
mood around the place is one of positivity, both on and off
the park. We have several plans in place to mark our 100th
birthday, with lots of new merchandise and events to celebrate
the centenary including a celebratory dinner later on in the
season.
Our style of football this year on the pitch is bringing a
real sense of optimism that we can continue to strive to reach
our aim of at least making the playoffs and giving ourselves
a chance of reaching the top flight of Scottish football. As
2018 progresses we hope to continue winning on the park in
an entertaining manner and enjoy the events planned for the
Centenary.
We plan to continue to engage and fulfil our community
programme which we run to allow us to reach out to all the
schools in the region with new and exciting initiatives. We
hope in turn this will help the younger generation engage with
us and become a part of the Queen of the South family.
With that in mind, Queen of the South takes great pride in
our youth system. So far we have over 25 academy graduates
