Letham FOOTBALL CLUB
Letham AFC was first established in 1960 and play their home games at 7acres on Newhouse Road in Perth . Their first team currently competes in Division 1 of the Perthshire Amateur Football Association and they completed a memorable treble last season .
They have been in fine form again this season and look set to retain their league title having won all nine of their league matches played to date . They are currently lying in 2nd place but with games in hand and should find themselves top of the pile before long .
To retain the league title would be a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with the club and is a reflection of all of the hard work that has gone into making them a success . If they are able to keep up their recent form it is difficult to see anyone beating them to the trophy .
One of the highlights of the team ’ s performances so far this season has been the attacking brand of football that they have been able to produce . This has been reflected by the fact that they have found the back of the net 58 times in the league alone at a rate of more than five per game .
This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future . This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue .
This is not a club to focus solely upon their senior set up however and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a number of youth sides in place . These teams look to provide young players from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential .
It is important for any club looking to be successful over a sustained period of time to be able to produce their own talent and this is an area they appear to have covered . It will certainly be exciting to see how their youngsters can progress in the coming years .
Letham AFC is fine example of a club achieving success on the back of a superb set up off the field . Hopefully they will be able to continue the good work for many years to come .
