with the way we are playing away from home , we just wish we could have turned some of those performances into a few more points . At home though we have done well and I think it ’ s fair to say that players , officials and supporters are all really enjoying the season - even without the cup run .
The number one target now has to be to accumulate enough points to ensure we are playing in the National League again next season , it is fabulous competition and we are all thoroughly enjoying it . After that , I suppose it ’ s about enjoying whatever we can take from the two FA knockout competitions .”
The FA Cup
“ We ’ ve enjoyed all the usual things of course , attracting new fans and generating great publicity , but really it has also just continued the feel-good factor that surrounds the place at the moment . Being practical , the revenue earned from the FA Cup will , of course , enable us to make a few improvements to the ground that might otherwise have taken a bit longer to implement .
Against Wimbledon , quite simply , I think we played better than they did over two games . They seemed to be nervous about playing on our 3G pitch but without reason , it is a fabulous surface that suits teams that like to play football on the deck , and I think they carried that lack of confidence over into the replay .”
Community
“ We are undoubtedly a community club , and not just because we have around 24 boys and girls teams . We are immensely proud of our two pandisability Community Teams that go from strength to strength and are proving transformational for many of the players .
We also do so many things in the community that are not about playing football , around health , education and so much more ; we are a Football Association Charter Standard Community Club and have been for many years .”
Challenges / Ambitions
“ I think the biggest challenge , or target , is simply to stay in the National League . Staying at this level is important but hopefully that will go hand in hand with , and support , our other ambitions , including : - improving the stadium , increasing our average crowds ( which are already 150 % higher than two years ago ), developing players and helping them progress into full-time careers and , of course , success on the field .”
