Garstang FOOTBALL CLUB

arstang FC has enjoyed a fine first half of the season and is now looking forwards to 2017 with plenty of optimism . Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with 1st Team Manager Lee Baker to gain an insight into their success .
Involvement
He told us , “ My time with the club has had a few breaks . I played for the club as a junior in the Central Lancashire Junior Football League to the age of 16 . At the age of 17 I was a regular first team player playing under a number of different managers . 2008 is the standout year for me personally as we won the West Lancs Premier League after a successful promotion to the division the season before .
I then moved on to higher league football , winning another league before returning to the club for a season before a major injury . I always wanted to be a manager even when I was playing . To do it at Garstang Football Club makes me immensely proud as me and my assistant Neil Beesley are local lads who have grown up playing junior football in the area and hope to lead the club into future successful years .”
The Role
“ The most challenging part of the job is managing the time of football / family . Me and Neil do everything we can to succeed . It ’ s not just turning a team out on a Saturday and saying off you go . Myself and Neil are constantly on the phone to each other and other people , meetings , going to watch future oppositions , e-mails , tactics and set pieces ready for the weekends game and training once or twice a week .
The rewarding part of the job are the results but more importantly making sure that the people who do follow us and committee members see a club to be proud of and a club which is heading in the right direction .”
This Season
“ The mood within the club is on a high at the moment . I think people can now see where the club is heading , not only in terms of off the field projects but on the pitch where it matters .
The season in reality has gone better than we thought at the moment . We lost a lot of first team players last year through
