Welton Rovers Welton Rovers superb form on the field this season is a reflection of all the hard work that has been put into making them a success behind the scenes. Football Focus Magazine would like to take this opportunity to wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season. Based at West Clewes on North Road in Midsomer Norton, Welton Rovers FC currently competes in Division 1 of the Toolstation Western League Division 1. They are led by Chairman Stuart Minall who is supported by Treasurer Malcolm Price and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. Their first team has been in fantastic form so far this season, putting together a record of 25 wins, 6 draws and just 3 defeats from their 34 matches. This has left them sitting in 2nd place in the table with 81 points on the board, just a game behind the league leaders. If they win their game in hand they will go within 2 points of Barnstable Town which will set up a tense finish to the campaign. As long as the team is able to keep up their recent level of performance they should be in with a good chance of claiming the title. One of the highlights of the team’s performances so far this season has been the attacking brand of football that they have produced. This is reflected by the fact that they have already racked up 75 goals at a rate of more than 2 per match. This has certainly meant that any supporters attending their matches have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future. This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue. Welton Rovers is a club that is committed to providing as many people as possible in their local community with an opportunity to play the game. This is reflected by the fact that they also run a reserve side in place which competes in Division 1 East of the Somerset County League. A major benefit of having a 2nd team in place is that it allows the first XI to benefit from far greater strength in depth. If they are ever left short on numbers through injury or work commitments they have the option of calling players up with a limited amount of disruption.
