s the season draws to a
close, Annan Athletic sit
just outside of the playoffs and will be confident
of claiming a place in the top 4. We
caught up with their Manager Jim
Chapman who told us, “I’ve been here
for just over two years now which
is quite a long term for a Manager
in Scotland! We’re a relatively new
club and the ambitions are great and
certainly fit in with my philosophy. It’s
a terrific club to work with.
The season could have gone better
from my point of view and we’ve had
some difficulties, partly due to the
raised expectations from last season.
We’ve struggled for consistency which
has been disappointing but we’re still

progressing. That’s not just at first team
level, the youth system and the work we
are doing in the community has come a
long way which is important.
We’re just getting back to full
strength so we’re confident of finishing
the season well. We’re just focusing on
taking as many points as possible and
we really want to make the play-offs.
As a club the expectations are very
realistic; they want to be at the heart of
the local community and are trying to
develop the facilities that we have. We’re
focusing on improving the facilities that
we have.
Personally, I think that you want to
try and help the club progress year in
year out. It would be nice to help them
take the next step on the exciting journey
that they’ve had so far. Hopefully
in 3 or 4 year times we’ll have a solid
foundation, with a thriving youth
section and a successful first team.”
Having a top quality Striker is crucial
for any side looking to be successful
and Annan Athletic have one in Peter
Weatherson. He took the time to speak
with Football Focus Magazine, saying,
“I’ve been with Annan for two seasons
and it was firstly the Manager, Jim
Chapman that attracted me there as he
offered me a coaching role with the first
team squad as well as a playing role.
My favourite moment so far was
scoring the winner against my old club
on my debut for Annan. Annan is a great
club with great people in and around
