Walsall Town Swifts
FOOTBALL CLUB
Walsall Town Swifts FC is a newly formed club born from a thriving
junior section football club Ace Academy, chaired by Ex Walsall
Professional, Wayne Thomas. The actual team have been together since
2010 and playing successfully under the Hawkins Sports name, but due
to strong links with Ace Academy and the Walsall FC Supporters club the
decision to re-form Walsall Town Swifts was made.
Walsall FC was originally founded in 1888 as Walsall
Town Swifts, an amalgamation of Walsall Town and
Walsall Swifts and it is the desire of many Walsall
supporters that this historical team name is re-born. As
a club the project is to get the name Walsall Town Swifts
back in the public eye, firstly at non-league grass roots
level. Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with
Club Representative Adam Pearce to find out more.
The Role
Adam told us, “At this level of football, the most
challenging part of the job is securing the funding to keep
50 Issue 86
the club competitive. We rely on the generosity of local
business and sponsors for donations and commercial
deals, which in the current climate is hard to come by.
All help is much appreciated.
Once that matters of on the pitch become the focus,
and attracting and keeping players is a battle, but also
very rewarding when you see your vision transfer into
results of a Saturday Afternoon. I have a great team
of staff who work with me, and the atmosphere at the
club will be top class, so anyone who joins us will join a
forward thinking club, with a great dressing room.”
