GMB Dundee Branch is proud to support members in their work and in their community @GMBScotOrg GMBScotland www.GMBscotland.org.uk been very good and with a very hard-working committee we hope to go on to bigger and better things. After a couple of weeks rest we start preparing for next season; we have a good squad of players but will need to get in a few more to strengthen up for the challenge ahead. “Youth football is a very big part of the North End set up, we just started an under 19s team this season incorporating 17s, 18s and nineteens. They won the league and cup this season and have had one or maybe two signing with us next season. We also started a North End Amateur team as we thought that players develop at different ages and we would not like to miss out on someone because they have been too old to play for our youth side. Again another great achievement is that the Amateur side have one their league and also a cup. Also, last but not least, we have connections with Maryfield United who run teams from four year olds to sixteen year olds. This creates a pathway right through to our first team with one of their teams also winning the league and cup double. 22 Issue 86 “We’ve sponsored the club for three years now; one of our members, Billy Mitchell is involved with the club and some of the lads play. Billy keeps us up to date with how they are getting on and I also follow them on social media. It is a good group of lads at the club – keep up the brilliant work you do. It is great to be associated with a community club that is doing so well.” Drew Duffy “Dundee North End are one of the oldest teams in Dundee and with the changes happening I would like to think that we will become a community club as we are well on the road towards that. The obvious challenge is money with all clubs needing money to run and this will definitely be a task in the future. “Our plans for the coming years are to make the club bigger and stronger on and off the field and be proud to be associated with Dundee North End as well as helping to bring on young football players to advance to the highest level possible.”
