Blackfield and Langley
well on the pitch or off the pitch in terms of getting the
necessary ground grading this season so of course it’s
buoyant but I think it’s fair to say that we are going into
the new season with a bit of trepidation.”
Last Season
“It’s been an absolute rollercoaster but what we
have achieved this season is nothing short of triumph
in the face of adversity. We couldn’t have written this
season – in our first season at step 4 we have had to
overcome massive hurdles in relation to various aspects
of our ground grading, our bar being flooded rendering
it unusable for two months, the collapse of the coach
company we used mid-season and the sudden death of
our much loved and well-respected Assistant Manager
Chris Farrell. Despite everything that has been thrown
at us, we have pulled together both on and off the pitch
and to achieve what we have as a Club this season is just
incredible. It will probably take the rest of the year for
the events of the 2018/19 season to sink in!”
Community
“We are not officially considered a community club
at present due to the lack of youth football, nor could
we consider ourselves to be – we are working on this –
we have been working with ladies’ teams over the past
two seasons thereby bringing women’s football to Gang
Warily and our bar space is used by a variety of groups/
organisations such as the local youth club, rugby club,
men’s shed group to name but a few – community
engagement is something we definitely need to work
on more in the future as it is becoming increasingly
important within the football world in general.”
Ambitions
“I think we have far exceeded any five year plan we
may have had and in such a short space of time that we
haven’t had a chance to plan another! Priority will be
to consolidate ourselves as a Step 3 club over the next
season and complete the necessary ground work. That’s
more than enough for now I think.”
