playing style has been invaluable in
giving the team a very professional
approach as director of football.
At the moment the club
continues to push forward on and
off the field. A new clubroom has
been built, training floodlights have
been installed and the main pitch
floodlights have been re-instated.
The first team are now managed by
ex-player Nick Timms and are back
in the Hellenic League fielding a
team many of whom are products of
the club’s youth set up.
This season has been a great
success with the team winning

West and also triumphing in the
Gloucestershire County Cup. Nick
was understandably pleased and
praised his players, saying, “We
have put all the lessons of the last
few seasons in place this year and all
the lads raised their game to beat all
comers, I have nothing but praise for
their efforts”.
The importance of keeping new
players coming through and giving
them a chance to prove themselves
is the lifeblood for a club of our size.
The current under 16 team is feeding
players into our reserve outfit with
the youth teams all going strong
in their leagues. The challenges
remain for current Youth Team
Development as the club has a large
number of 6 and 7 year olds keen to
join our set up.
Vice Chairman Martin Jones said,
“the club takes a positive approach
to recruiting our volunteers to run
our teams being happy to pay for
any courses a coach takes as long
as they commit to coach a team.
Our under 11 and 12 team coaches
have taken the FA Level 2 courses
and this is reflected in the style of
football they play and we hope this
will install a club DNA of attractive
passing football.”
This approach paid dividends for
the Under 11 team who won their
cup competition at a finals day in
May. Coach Dave Toon said, “I am
very pleased that the hard work by
all the players has paid off and we
got to the cup final, winning was a
bonus.”
As the Chairman, Paul Luker has
a positive view on the outlook for
the future, “We are always looking
to move forward by a gradual
improvement of our facilities to
match our progress on the pitch, my
aim in the next five years is to ensure
we have football at the highest
standard we can reach at which our
local players can enjoy and the youth
teams can feed players into.”
