Marston Green FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/FOOTYFOCUSMAG Marston Green FOOTBALL CLUB Marston Green FC has enjoyed a fine season and will be working hard during the off-season to make sure they can continue to progress. Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with Club Representative Kim Clarke to find out more about how they have been getting along lately. Involvement Kim told us, “I have been at the club for five years now firstly as a player/parent and then more recently as club secretary. The club is local to where I live and has always had a reputation of being a club that has a family feel and is all about the kids.” The Role “The most challenging part of the role is ensuring that players, parents and coaches abide by FA rules and regulations. Not everyone always agrees with these so it’s about balancing expectation and reality. The most rewarding part is when players approach you at presentation evening excitedly wanting to share with you what awards they have received. To see those smiles makes it all worth it.” Atmosphere “The general mood is really good right now; it has been a successful season with a couple of teams winning cup competitions and our U15s team winning Division 1. There is a real push in the club now to move forward, improve facilities and make Marston Green the local team of choice. We have a great bunch of people on our committee who are all committed to moving forward.” This Season Loaded with tech, with exclusive design accents. Official Sponsor: Marston Green F.C. “This season has been a great season for the club, with three teams winning cup competitions and our U15 team winning the Division 1 Championship. We have some great teams coming through at U7s also who regularly tell you they are going to score 100 goals a game. There is a real positive vibe around.” 2019 “We have just held our presentation evenings where we celebrated the successes of the 18/19 season and rewarded a number of players for loyalty to the club, with a number achieving 5 and 10 year awards. Focus now is on the new 19/20 season, building new teams and strengthening our existing teams with new players coming in all the time. We are applying for a number of grants to develop and upgrade existing facilities, so there is a lot of hard work ahead.” Youth 220 The Radleys, Mackadown Lane, Garretts Green, Birmingham. B33 0QR 24 Issue 85 “Youth football is the most important thing to Marston Green as this is what we are all about. Providing football opportunities to the youth in the local area in an environment that encourages, develops and support them inside and outside of football.”
