Brantham Athletic
FOOTBALL CLUB
Brantham Athletic FC is based at the Brantham Leisure Centre in
Manningtree, Essex and their first team currently competes in the
Eastern Counties Premier Division. They are a fine example of the
important role that a club can play in their local community.
This season their first team has put together a positive
campaign, having compiled a record of seventeen wins,
eight draws and twelve defeats from their thirty-seven
matches. This sees them sitting in the top half of the table
with fifty-nine points on the board.
This should provide them with a solid platform from
which to build as they head into the off-season. As long
as they are able to retain their current group of players
and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they
should be in with a good chance of pushing on next
season.
One of the highlights of the team’s performances this
season has been their superb defensive record. In the
league they have conceded just 44 times, giving them
one of the best defences in the league, averaging just
over one per game.
Being so tight defensively is a reflection of the hard
work the team put in on the training ground. It will
certainly serve to give their players confidence knowing
that they have the potential to grind out results even
when not playing at their best.
Brantham Athletic is not a club to focus solely upon
their senior players and this is shown by the thriving
“St Francis Group have been sponsoring Brantham Athletic FC for the past four years now and we are delighted
that we’ve been able to help the club achieve their success in the Eastern Counties Cup last year.
Most importantly to us though is the grass roots set-up that Brantham has and how the whole community gets
involved in both playing for and supporting this great club. We look forward to watching the new under 10’s girls
team progress and hope that we remain a lucky partner to teams at all levels.”
