Framlingham Town He told us, “I have been involved with Framlingham Town Football Club since 1969 when my Husband finished playing football at semi- professional level, through injury, and was released to play for Framlingham Town FC and I took over as Secretary from Mr Sydney Vice in 1971. Our Chairman, Mr Dean Warner, has come up from Youth Chairman to Vice Chairman and now Chairman, so been with the club for some 21 years.” “The most rewarding aspects of my role are success for the teams and enjoyment. The challenging part for me is to get a predominantly white kit, washed and clean ready for the next match, this too I have done for 48 years. “We have had a disappointing season this year after a very successful season last year, gaining our second promotion in two years, which we have found to be a step too far too soon for our players, who mostly have come through our Youth section, into our Under 18’s, A side, Reserves and then our 1st team; this is how we ensure our young players get a smooth transition into the senior game. “Our players have been very loyal to our club, and have continued to be very committed. We aim to keep morale high within our club, whilst playing some very good football, as we do not pay our players but at the level we have reached in the Premier Division, we are noticing that many clubs get semi-professional players, loan players, which cost a lot of money and unfortunately we are not in that position here at Framlingham Town FC. “Our Youth Section is vitally important to our club, running some eleven male teams at Youth level of all ages, as this is where our Senior side has been built from. We are a community club and have achieved the FA Charter Standard Development Club award. “In the next five years our biggest challenge will be Finance and Volunteers. In the next five years our ambitions is to drop down again at the end of this season, rebuild again and try to achieve Premier Football in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, which for a small town like we are, will be a wonderful achievement, but without more financial backing, which these days is difficult to get, we have to work extremely hard to get grounds in order for FA Grading as well.” A family pub in the heart of Framlingham.
