“My godson Adam Newbury plays for the club and my family has a long association with them. I have also sponsored the club for the past couple of years. I try to get down to as many games as possible and really look forward to them doing well. Keep doing what you are doing, enjoy your football and play with a smile on your face.” Mark Bowley, MTB Glazing and grow through sport, concentrating on sportsmanship and playing the right way. As players get older there are more opportunities for them to do other things, and if they have played regularly for seven or eight years they may not want to continue! However, we do encourage players to move across to the reserves team should they wish to continue playing after they finish junior football, to get experience of adult football. We currently have a very successful U17 team who have been together since they were U7s and look like they will stay together and move on as a team, however this is very unusual.” Challenges/Ambitions Local familly run business 30 years experiance • UPVC Windows • Doors • Conservatories • Soffits • Fascia • Guttering “Our local FA are developing the pitch we use regularly as our home pitch, turning it into a 4G all-weather pitch. We hope this will be a positive move, however the period of upheaval while the work is done will be a challenge! I am also concerned at the decline in 11v11 leagues, I feel this is not helped by the growing availability of 6 a side mini leagues but I understand why these are so popular, as they do not have the same rules etc as the more stringent requirements to sign on and be registered with a particular club/team, they can just turn up and play - often for more than one team on the same night! We are looking into the possibility of redeveloping the club building, as it is a very old building and no longer fit for purpose. This would provide more opportunities for more players, especially juniors, and also the chance to encourage other sports to use our facilities.” Tel: 0143 Mob: 0772 www.footballfocusmag.com 31
