Potton United
“However, off the field activities being recognised is
also very rewarding. We won the UCL hospitality award
for many consecutive years and have also done very well
in the SML Respect league this season, being in the top 3
most of the time.
“The mood at the club at the moment is fairly good. The
1st team are doing well and although the reserves have
struggled and had a turbulent year the morale within the
team is fantastic. I believe the season has gone very well.
Having been laterally moved by the FA as well as promoted
from step 6 to step 5. To spend most of the season in the top
6 (currently in 7th) is a great achievement. Now it is just a
case of picking up maximum points to ensure we do not
drop too far down the league and preparing for the League
Challenge Trophy Final.
“Unfortunately, we do not have a youth set up
connected to the club as the youth organisation within the
town is a separate organisation. We have tried working
alongside them in the past and have run an under 18 side
on two different occasions but unfortunately each time
only lasted one year.
“We are currently having the Under 16s from the Youth
set up in the town playing on our pitch. Unfortunately, we
face a problem with a number of youths now going off to
University which takes them away for three or four years.
“Our biggest challenge is attracting sponsors to ensure
the club can stay at the level it is currently playing at. It
is so hard asking businesses to sponsor and they are just
not interested. It is our ambition to establish ourselves as a
very good Step 5 side and continue to improve off the pitch
as well as on it.”
