They are a good local side and my business is situated just around the corner from them. When I was a youngster I used to play for the club as a defender and still feel a great affection for the club.” Chris Thompson, RTM Carriers Deliveries or collections Including facebook, ebay, gumtree 2/3 men available for larger jobs CALL CHRIS 07827 444717 Email [email protected] RTM CARRIERS Development increasing in numbers. We have numerous teams still competing in cup competitions so it would be great to see them go all the way and finish with some silverware. In December, the club held its very own Strictly Come Dancing event. This required seven coaches from the club to team up with professional dancers to learn and perform a dance routine in front of a sell-out audience of 250 people. The event was judged by local celebrities including Paul Stewart and Ann Nolan and sponsored by local businesses. The event raised in excess of £2400 which is being used to provide all players with a coaching day at St Georges Park. We have also had numerous managers and coaches develop their coaching qualifications further, gaining FA level 3, level 2, FA level 1 goal keeping and Futsal level 1. This will not only benefit themselves and the club but most importantly the players. The plans for the rest of the season are to start planning for presentation day and ensuring we can secure winter training facilities for all the individual teams. We are also now planning for next season, looking for sponsors, getting ready to order new kits and training wear, and making sure that we retain, as well as increase our overall membership.” 10 Issue 84 Youth “Youth Football is so important to the club as it provides opportunities for hundreds of children to have fun, keep fit and enjoy football on a weekly basis whilst meeting new friends and developing not only football skills but life skills. Our Youth Development section is probably the most important age group within the club as this provides us with the players to take forward for the next 8-10 years. They are the ‘conveyor belt’ of the club.” Community “Spirit of Youth is an FA Charter Standard Development Club. This award acknowledges that the club is clearly ‘enhancing the quality and scope of their football offering’ and is something the club are really proud to hold and we are working towards becoming a Standard Community Club in the future. We have teams of all abilities spread over the age groups, so we always encourage the local community to come to us no matter what their child’s ability level.” Challenges/Ambitions “At present, the increase in pitch and league fees is something that may become challenging in the future along with retaining and attracting managers and coach volunteers. The plan for the next five years is to develop a girls team or teams along with supporting all managers and coaches in gaining the Futsal level 1 qualification so that we can coach Futsal to all players. We currently have two strong U14 teams and it would be great to see them move into the senior game with the club’s support.”
