The Downtown Little Rock Partnership hosts Food Truck Fridays each Spring and Fall, along with an annual Main Street Food Truck Festival in October. Little Rock is also home to many other year-round food-related festivals that SM celebrate a variety of ethnic foods (including Cajun, Greek, Jewish and Turkish, among others), specialty dishes (Cornbread Festival), and even beverages (the Nog-off at Historic Arkansas Museum, where folks compete for bragging rights for the best eggnog). Recently, Little Rock’s Pulaski Technical College celebrated the grand opening of its $16 million, state-of-the-art, LEED-certified, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute – the first and only zero-waste culinary program in the country. In addition to its full-time programs, the Institute will offer community education classes as part of its Discovery program (geared to non-students wanting to explore and/or sharpen their culinary skills). Today’s visitor is in pursuit of an amazing experience. For many food enthusiasts, finding destinations that offer unique food-related experiences is a critical part of their decision-making process. With more than 500 restaurants, a thriving locavore, artisanal and food-truck scene, numerous food-related festivals and a state-of-the-art culinary school, Little Rock has truly become a culinary destination that’s worth exploring.
