USA - snacks containing carob powder possibly contaminated with
Salmonella
(Source: FDA) Dancing Star LLC, Buckland, MA 01338 Issues Voluntary Recall For Various Snacks
because they contain organic carob powder from Ciranda, Inc., Hudson, WI 54016, which may
be contaminated with Salmonella.
There are no other flavours of Dancing Star Chunks of Energy or Rave Bites being recalled
The recalled items are distributed nationwide and sold in retail stores (some of them in bulk)
for the sales of smaller quantities to their customers. No illnesses have been reported to date in
connection with this problem.
This precautionary action was taken because the products contain Carob powder that was part
of Ciranda Inc.’s organic Carob powder recall.

Canada - fruit recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes
contamination
(Source: Canadian Food Inspection Agency) Industry is recalling Sweet 2 Eat brand fresh, whole peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. These products were recalled by Wawona Packing Company of
California. The retail cartons may show the following brand names: Wawona, Sweet 2 Eat or
Harvest Sweet. Stickers on individual fruit have the Sweet 2 Eat brand name.
This recall was triggered by a recall in the United States by Wawona Packing Company of California.

China - expired meat products served in fast-food establishments
(Source: Food Online) US-owned OSI Group is at the heart of a Chinese food safety scandal where expired meat products were sold and served in Shanghai fast-food establishments through its
Husi Food Company. Husi Food is owned by the OSI Group
A Shanghai TV station reports that KFC, Pizza Hut, and McDonald’s restaurants were supplied
expired beef and chicken products by Husi Food.
According to Dragon TV, Husi repackaged expired beef and chicken products, putting new expiration dates on the packages, and then sold these packages to KFC, McDonald’s, and Pizza Hut
locations. The news report states that KFC, Pizza Hut, and McDonald’s are opening their own
investigations.
