THREE DAYS. ONE BIG QUESTION:

WHAT’ S LEFT IN YOUR PIPELINE?

At the PPMA Show 2026, HPS spoke with manufacturers about recovering more product, reducing waste and making every batch go further.

THE PRODUCT LEFT BEHIND

Every product transfer can leave valuable liquid in the pipeline. When it is flushed away during cleaning or a changeover, saleable product is lost ], along with extra water and cleaning chemicals.
That could mean chocolate, sauces, honey or dairy, as well as personal care products, paints and chemicals.
Pigging recovers that product. A specially designed pig travels through the pipeline after a transfer, pushing the remaining product to its destination so it can be used instead of washed away. By recovering more product before cleaning, manufacturers can reduce waste, improve yields and lower cleaning costs.
Pump the Pig: a fun introduction to pigging.
Pump the Pig gave visitors a fun, hands-on way to see the basic principle behind pigging.
At Stand A51, visitors shared the production challenges they wanted to tackle, from recovering more product to improving cleaning and line efficiency. HPS discussed where pigging could fit.

COULD IT WORK ON YOUR LINE?

Pigging can help recover more product, reduce waste and cut cleaning costs. Talk to HPS to see whether it could work on your line.
