That’ s according to Fusion 360, a UK-wide installer of solar panel systems on large buildings including factories and warehouses that are home to manufacturers and distributors of food and drink.
The solar installation experts report that food and drink manufacturers are increasingly adopting solar energy, just as sunny weather ups the demand for certain products.

Fortunately, it corresponds with the increase in sunlight which can be harnessed to power the processing, preparation and refrigeration they need” says Joanne Skinner, Commercial Director of Fusion 360.
Like most industries, the adoption of solar panels by food manufacturers has accelerated over recent years, driven by a number of factors.
“ Major retailers expect suppliers to demonstrate carbon reduction and help them towards Net Zero. However, it is high electricity prices that appear to have made on-site generation most attractive” adds Joanne.
Food is one of the UK’ s most energy-intensive manufacturing sectors, with refrigeration, chilled, freezing, baking, drying, cold storage, pasteurisation and packaging creating large daytime demand for electricity.
