JS Davidson steps up operation through latest investment
Leading multi temperaturecontrolled storage operator JS Davidson has highlighted its commitment to providing a complete end-to-end temperaturecontrolled solution with ongoing substantial investment and enhanced co-packing capabilities .
Its latest suite of co-packing services now includes tempering , data coding , sleeving , relabelling , case configuration and shrink wrapping .
To take its offering to the next level , JS Davidson has also acquired an Ultra Smart Portable Blast Unit from Blue Cube .
The investment into the new Unit , which totals £ 481,000 over 5 years , will be officially commissioned later this month .
The Blast Unit , which has the capability of blast freezing , blast chilling and tempering all within the same mobile unit , will enable JS Davidson to drive greater efficiencies throughout its temperature control operation .
With a capacity of up to 30 pallets , JS Davidson ’ s new Portable Blast Unit is suited for both freezing and defrosting under a controlled environment as well as bringing food products back up to temperature in rapid succession – a service it offers for its customer Holy Moly - offering greater longevity for product life and as such a greater capability of processing orders quickly and more efficiently .
Offering up to 53 per cent GWP , it also provides a low emission , and low-operational cost option for both rapidly freezing and tempering products .

The Unit has been acquired during a period of continued investment by Peterboroughbased JS Davidson who alongside co-packing , provide distribution and storage services to its growing customer base .
John Davidson , Managing Director at JS Davidson commented : “ From findings of market research that we have conducted in recent months , we have seen that there is a growing demand for both rapid freezing and tempering , largely in line with increased expectations in the marketplace .
“ In order to cater to this , we felt a Blast Unit would offer the greatest operational output , without compromising on our sustainability pledge .
“ With a Blast Freezer , we are able to reduce wastage and ensure that the products we store remain of a premium quality , which will only serve to benefit our customers .
“ Equally , given that we can safely and rapidly cool , chill , freeze and temper tonnes of produce in a matter of a few hours , compared to potentially up to hundreds of hours , it will drive significant operational efficiencies throughout the business – especially within our co-packing division .”
With a pedigree spanning nearly 30 years , JS Davidson occupies over 141,000 sq ft of warehousing facilities from where it provides storage , distribution and copacking services from its sites in Peterborough and Bourne . The company , which prides itself on delivering a best in class service has achieved its highest BRC accreditation AA * for the first time this year .
