Annemarie Colbin, a Certified Health Education Specialist( CHES) and Certified Culinary Professional( CCP),
taught health-supportive cooking for over twenty years and continues to teach natural healing techniques and
principles of balanced eating. She is the author of The Book of Whole Meals, The Natural Gourmet( both from
Ballantine), and has chapters in
The Big Book of Relaxation
( The Relaxation Co.) and
Nourishing the Soul
( Common Boundary). In addition, she has been writing a bimonthly column for
Free Spirit
magazine,“ Food
and your Health,” since 1988.
Ms. Colbin, who practices what she preaches, founded The Natural Gourmet Cookery School and Institute for
Food and Health in New York City in 1972. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, including the
New York Times, Newsday, Natural Health, New Age Journal, and others. She has appeared on many radio
and TV shows around the country and abroad, and lectures widely. A resident of New York City, Ms. Colbin is
the recipient of a number of awards, including the Roundtable for Women in Foodservice 1987 Pacesetter
Award in Education, and the Avon 1993 Women of Enterprise Award.
