various dates & times
The Fleece Inn, Bretforton, a favourite for real
ale drinkers, morris dancers and folkies.
Christmas is over and Saturday 11th January
sees the return of the Fleece Inn annual Wassail
from 6.30pm - free entry. From dusk the apple orchard
becomes alive with cider, singing and Morris men. Join us for this pagan
tradition of waking the trees to encourage a good harvest in preparation
for next year’s cider, fun for all the family and a brilliant way to dispel
those winter blues!
As well as the regular Thursday folk sessions, the Fleece Barn,
always a popular (but intimate!) concert
venue is now home to Fleecey Folk, a regular
folk concert night every 3rd Sunday (Sept to
May) - see colour advert on the front cover.
We hope you can join us.

Various events, day varies
We’re delighted to be welcoming Kathryn Roberts
and Sean Lakeman to Artrix on 19th February.
Winners of the 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards trophy for Best Duo,
these two lynchpins of the acoustic folk revival are returning to the fray
following the release of their acclaimed album Hidden People. Kathryn
and Sean have graced stages the world over in a number of guises,
however, the intimacy and strength of passion shown as a duo, combined
with an eclectic repertoire ensures a rare treat for any listener.
Then on 8th March, the fabulous drummer/founder ex-members
of Lindisfarne, Ray Lidlaw and front man Billy Mitchell will be
performing acoustic versions of Lindisfarne’s classic songs. The
Lindisfarne Story will be interspersed with music and tales from
behind the scenes of Lindisfarne’s rise to fame, their concert tours,
recording sessions and festival appearances.
Last but not least we have the lovely Emily Smith appearing on 30th
March. A multi award winning Scottish folk singer Emily is a leading
figure of the Scottish folk scene. As a songwriter Emily has been likened
to ‘a Scottish Joni Mitchell’, but is equally adept at presenting fresh and
evocative interpretations of traditional material.
