Focus SWW Autumn 2019 | Page 4

Dear reader, A letter from the editor Welcome to Autumn! After now surpassing 3 years in publication it’s at this point I think I ought to introduce myself. I have been in charge of this magazine since I joined the Society in 2016 and in that time I have not only overseen its growth but also been largely responsible for its design and production (as well as a little bit of its content). Focus SWW is, and always has been the only estate planning e-magazine which caters to both the public and the professional, provided entirely for free. We publish Focus SWW every quarter, normally in line with the start of the season and whether you’re new to the magazine or you’ve been reading for a while, I hope that you like our magazine and appreciate the time and effort which goes into producing it each quarter. On that note, great credit must be given to the team at the Society because had it not been for them and the hours of research and education which go into producing the content, this magazine simply would not exist. Focus SWW is truly a team effort and I’m incredibly proud of all the work the team does which goes into producing each issue. We’re not a massive team, but we are a dedicated team who’re passionate about all that we do, not just for our members but for the public as well. You may have spotted some of our social media campaigns this year which are aimed at professionals who we’d like to join the Society, but also at the public as we further our efforts in the education of the public for the need to have a Will and proper estate plan to go with it. When getting your Will written, always remember to ask for your will writers’ credentials, whether they’re a member of ours, a solicitor or if they’re registered with any other organisation. Our members aren’t just Will Writers, they’re estate planning professionals who are experts in what they do, because for the most part, it’s all that they do. Every member is trained, insured and abides by a strict Code of Practice set out by the Society so that we can ensure they’re what we call ‘Safe to do business with’. Members of the Society all carry ID cards with a unique number on them and should you feel the need, you are welcome to call us or check our website at any time to confirm that anyone claiming to be a member, is a member. If you have any questions regarding the content of this magazine, or about the Society in general, please do get in touch. The team and I wish you all the best for the coming months.
