Read! by 4 - Philadelphia
Rb4 is supporting teachers in the development of lesson plans K-3 based upon evidence-based instruction. Rb4 is going to have a “page” or a sub “site” on Share My Lesson which is website established by the AFT for teachers to share with teachers. The idea is for teachers in Philadelphia to be participants in the move to evidence-based reading instruction. We are only at the beginning stages of this initiative.
We are happy to report the Philadelphia School District has adopted Saxon Phonics (delivered in November 2015). This is re ective of the district embracing explicit systematic PA and phonics instruction.
There’s an overview of Dyslexia Workshop that being provided to AFT Philadelphia teachers on March 19th and it is being given by Deborah Lynam from AIM Academy along with Lisa Goldstein and members of PBIDA.
The momentum from the October 5th event at Drexel has resulted in both Arcadia and Temple University pursuing IDA/CERI accreditation. There is also interest on the part of the University of the Arts.
