Students from the "Gheorghe
Asachi" Technical University of
Iasi, in collaboration with
Proinvest Group, have developed
a project that has been awarded
with a medal in an international
profile competition.
The collaboration of Proinvest Group with the
academia in 2017 helped the students of the
Faculty of Civil Engineering, Railways, Roads and
Bridges Section of the "Gheorghe Asachi"
Technical University in Iasi to obtain the second
place in a miniature bridge competition. The
competition with international participation
took place in Turkey between 10 and 14 of April,
2017. The contest held at Bogazic University
from Istanbul focused on the design and
realization of a 6 meters long metal bridge
model with a height of 0.9 meters, which had to
withstand a load of 1.25 tons. The five-day
contest rised a few challenges.

The first test evaluated the aesthetics and the
assembly - the uniqueness of the project, its
conception, the quality of the execution, the
ideas, but also the way the students presented
their structure before the members of the jury.
The second test consisted in weighing each
bridge, considering as the more economic
bridges the ones with a lower weight and
according to this aspect a score was given. The
third test consisted in mounting the bridge in a
timed manner, the structure being a model
executed by the students after a precise
regulation, the point of interest being the
compliance to real conditions of bridges
construction, such as keeping the components
at dimensions small enough to be lifted by a
crane. The last test was the resistance, in which
it was loaded with 1.250 kilograms.
The team of students was sponsored by our
company, their project being done with the
materials and with the help of Proinvest Group’s
specialists. The resulting bridge has excelled in
aesthetics, uniqueness, weight and strength
criteria. The project of the detachable bridge
made of steel components occupied the first
position in the resistance test, throughout the
whole competition being placed on the second
position.
