Ayrshire Connects is our mentoring network for female STEM and construction students across the College to connect with each other , with students in other colleges and universities , with employers and women in the industry sectors they aspire to work in .
Events Include :
GIRLS WITH GRIT
Over 100 people heard Sarah Murray , NASA HQs Council Executive / Mission Support and Partnership Councils , demonstrate how she showed extraordinary perseverance in dealing with sexual and racial prejudice on her way to a 25-year career at NASA .
Cheese . Wine . Chatter .
Students heard two local success stories at a cheese and wine night . Michelle Lennon , Global Strategy Execution Manager for MERCK , and Health , Safety and Wellbeing Officer , Lisa Little , described their experiences . Both studied at Ayrshire College in the 1990s .
University of Glasgow visit
To better understand what it ’ s like to study maledominated subjects at university , the network paid a visit to the University of Glasgow ’ s female engineering society FemEng .
