Carp

Habitat and Diet:
Carp prefer large bodies of slow or standing water and soft sediments. They are very adaptable and are found all over the world.
Carp are omnivorous; they eat a diet of water plants and also scavenge the bottom for insects, crustaceans( like crayfish) and worms.
Relationship to humans:
Though not considered game fish by most anglers, carp provide much angling enjoyment to many Michigan fishermen. They are fair game for all types of fishermen, including spearing and archery anglers.
Fun / Unusual fact:
A single carp can lay over a million eggs in a year, yet their population remains about the same, so we know that many species of fish and birds feed on the eggs and young carp.
