Florals in Fashion
Florals are in full bloom and popping up everywhere. Picture a
striking posy of optic 3-D botanicals and abstract field flowers
– from the tiny to the oversized – in vintage-influenced pieces,
menswear-inspired silhouettes, cropped shirts, fit and flare
dresses, A-line skirts and silk blouses. Lace, brocade, decadent
embroidery and sheer appliqués add refinement and the right
touch of whimsy. Floral does not have to be overtly girly, but
can also be tropadelic in inspiration, giving you a bright color
with foliage green as your base. Try pairing florals together, but
be careful, it’s all about balance. Play with scale as well; bigger
florals on the bottom and smaller on the top. To balance the
look, match your floral back to solids, so that your floral message really pops. This spring, you will also find floral influences
in shoes, handbags, brooches and necklaces. In short: this isn’t
your average garden party!
