In the summer of 2015, my family and I took a trip to New York, and from there we drove up to Cape Cod. As a family, our dogs are our pride and joy, so of course when shopping we had to visit the pet stores. We didn’t have time in New York but did in Cape Cod. We found the most amazing pet store. We had never seen anything like it. My Dad isn’t one to visit pet shops, he believes they all have this horrible smell and he often tries to avoid visiting them but with this one he didn’t want to leave. Their stock was out of this world. With so many different products, from clothing to toys to treat dispensers that you would teach the dog to use. You really could have spent a fortune. We bought home some toys and a beautiful collar. One of my dogs still wears the collar today and it remains in such good condition even after three years, which in fact is very rare!! After visiting Cape Cod, my Dad and I have always had our hearts set on opening a similar such store. We know it would thrive, especially in Essex where there are none like it.
My gorgeous two-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, Bertie, is the name and face of our new store. We want our store to provide lots of different services. Not only can you and your dog come in and shop but the dogs can go to the groomers and you can both visit our doggy café. The boutique will be high end, only selling the most amazing products with so much variety. One thing pet stores lack around Essex is variety between the different products they sell. Even though we are aiming for high quality products, we still want our brand to be affordable. At the moment, we are keeping the store strictly as a dog’s boutique. However, once we have found our feet and start becoming profitable, we would like to introduce items for other animals so as to widen our target audience and increase sales.
My chosen pathway and specialism is marketing. This is because once I have finished the FRA I would like to have a career in marketing, so this is good practice and would be great to mention to employers.
