There is a huge gap in the market for a luxury dog’s boutique, especially in Essex where the store will be based. The dog stores are very basic and boring, they all sell very similar products. I believe there is a need for an exciting, luxurious dog store. Bertie’s Boutique's unique selling point is that in store we will have a dog café where owners can come in and enjoy a cappuccino whilst their dogs enjoy a puppaccino!
I have worked in retail for over a year now, so I have good knowledge and understanding of how to handle customers and money.
You have to question the fact that my customers may not want to spend too much money on their dogs. They may want to spend more money on themselves. Furthermore, being a new business I won’t have a loyal and regular customer. It will take a lot of marketing and time make Bertie’s Boutique well known and to start generating a good profit.
Opening Bertie’s Boutique will be a new career path for me and my family. Depending on how well it does, it will be passed down throughout my family and be an ongoing business. I really do believe this business will be very successful. Once I get enough profit, I can begin buying in products for other animals too. This will widen my target audience and increase sales.
I have no experience of running a business. It is going to cost a lot of money. For example, I will have to rent a big enough store to stock all my products with room for a café and groomers. As well as buying the equipment for the groomers and café. I will have the monthly cost of using Wix. I am not going to making loads of money in the first few months of opening, so I will need a fair amount of money to begin with.
