The process started with discussion at Faculty User and Carer Liaison Group meetings in early 2022 , focusing on public contributor members ’ views . Subsequent discussions about hybrid meetings were held with public contributors in April and May 2022 .
In this report the recommendations are discussed in the following section and summarised in a checklist in section 4 .
The UK Standards for Public Involvement
1 . Inclusive opportunities : Offer public involvement opportunities that are accessible and that reach people and groups according to research / educational needs .
2 . Working together : Working together in a way that values all contributions , and that builds and sustains mutually respectful and productive relationships .
3 . Support and learning : Offer and promote support and learning opportunities that build confidence and skills for public involvement in research / education
4 . Communications : Use plain language for well-timed and relevant communication as part of involvement plans and activities
5 . Impact : Seek improvement by identifying and sharing the difference that public involvement makes to research / education
6 . Governance : Involve the public in research / education management , regulation , leadership and decision making
