At Massanutten Resort, visitors can schuss down the slopes, catch
some rays in the water park, whip up something tasty in a cooking
class, take in a comedy show, learn to salsa and even attempt to nab a
Prohibition-era mob boss. (More on that later.)
The sprawling resort in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley (and
140 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.) aims to be all things to all
people, and then some.
At various times of year, active pursuits include mountain biking,
rappelling and ridge climbing, golf and more. But in winter, visitors
flock to the resort’s ski hill, the attraction that, back in 1973, sparked
what would eventually become a 6,000-acre development dedicated
to all things recreational.
