As the winter travel season brings the joy of the holidays and the allure of a cold weather
escape, Washington’s airports–and the destinations we serve–offer a bounty of sights
and experiences to brighten this special time of year.
At Reagan National and Dulles International, we’re excited to celebrate with you as we
deck the halls in festive décor and fill our terminals with the sounds of visiting musicians.
In this issue of #FlyWashington, we showcase the variety of nonstop winter
getaways–stretching from the ski slopes of the Swiss Alps to the sunny sands of
Miami–all within easy reach of our airports.
As the weather cools down and the ice heats up with early hopes of another winning
hockey season, the Airports Authority is proud to feature the 2018 Stanley Cup most
valuable player Alex Ovechkin and the Champion Washington Capitals hockey team in this
issue. Learn more in our in-depth look at the team’s first-time championship journey, the
excitement shared by fans traveling through our airports to witness the team’s path to
victory and the team’s triumphant homecoming at Dulles International.
In this issue, we also highlight efforts to enhance your experience in our airports no
matter where your journeys lead you. Most notably, those traveling from Dulles Interna-
tional will benefit from the convenience of an all-new curbside valet parking service and a
faster, more seamless payment system in our parking lots and garages. As we work to
add a new 14-gate concourse and new security checkpoints at Reagan National, we
appreciate your continued patience as Project Journey construction progresses–altering
roadways, pickup and drop-off areas, shuttle bus stops and the path of the passenger
through the terminal.
