Due to its unique and preserved state , the beach is populated by swimmers , snorkelers and scuba divers .
At the region ’ s northernmost point is Torrey Pines State Beach . Surrounded by 300-foot sea cliffs , Torrey Pines Beach is a fortified and rugged beauty waiting to be explored . The beach is accessible via car but can also be reached by trail when heading from the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve . With long stretches of beach to sunbathe , the views are breathtaking , and at low tide , a stroll along the shore is surreal . Further south is Black ’ s Beach , which is more difficult and hazardous to access ; this does not stop daring surfers and body borders who deem the spectacular views worth the trek . Surfers will also find themselves at the rocky shore of Windansea Beach — which often holds local competitions of the sport — due to its strong surf breaks caused by underwater reefs . This spot is suitable for surfers
