CAPITAL PRIDE May 31 – June 9 Multiple venues throughout Washington D.C. The capital’s LGBTQ+ population has plenty of pride. At the heart is a dynamic, colorful parade that sees more than 200 floats, vehicles, marchers, and performers frolic through historic Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhoods — following a week of block parties, rallies, concerts, and other events. The Pride Festival fills the streets with more than 300 exhibitors serving drinks, food, and education, while three stages welcome local and national performers. JUNE WESTERN LOUDOUN ARTISTS STUDIO TOUR June 1 – June 2 Purcellville, VA Get a behind-the-scenes look at the life of an artist as the Artists Studio Tour celebrates its 14th anniversary. UPPERVILLE COLT & HORSE SHOW June 3 – June 9 Upperville, VA Founded in 1853, The Upperville Colt & Horse Show is the oldest horse show in America. The nation’s top ranking hunters and jumpers will compete alongside the local ponies, sidesaddle ladies and racing Jack Russell Terriers. Enjoy various races, children’s activities, pony rides, exhibits and be immersed in Loudoun’s rich equestrian scene. THE D.C. JAZZ FESTIVAL June 7 – June 16 Multiple venues throughout Washington D.C. D.C. swings hardest during this annual jazz festival, filling venues large and small — from intimate clubs to the Kennedy Center—with some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians. Among the talent playing in 2019 are Joshua Redman, Jon Batiste, and Downbeat magazine’s “Clarinetist of the Year,” Anat Cohen. A major feature of the festival is “Jazz in the ’Hoods,” which brings visitors to local clubs, restaurants, hotels, galleries, places of worship, and performing arts spaces in more than 25 neighborhoods.
